The Class of 2017 consists of Morten Andersen (kicker), Terrell Davis (running back), Kenny Easley (safety), Jerry Jones (owner, president and general manager), Jason Taylor (defensive end), LaDainian Tomlinson (running back) and Kurt Warner (quarterback).
Andersen set NFL records for career points (2,544), most field goals (565) and games played (382). He became the first player in NFL history to make three field goals of 50 yards or more in a single game. At the time of his retirement in 2007, after 25 seasons in the league, Andersen’s 40 field goals of 50-plus yards were the most in NFL history.
His induction is well-deserved: He has turned the Cowboys into the world’s most valuable sports team less than three decades after buying them for $140 million. Forbes estimates the Cowboys are worth $4.2 billion, which is nearly $1 billion more than the Patriots, the next highest-valued squad, at $3.4 billion.
Jones helped thrust “America’s Team” back into national prominence by building a team that won three Super Bowls in four years during the 1990s. Critics will always knock Jones and his players for their antics and the franchise’s failures over the past two-plus decades (no titles since the ’94 season), and much of that is deserved.
I missed it. Why is Jerry Jones being inducted into the NFL Hall of NHL Cheap Jerseys Fame? It seems more like a participation trophy inductee than merit. No?
But his place in Canton was cemented not only by his accomplishments Nike NFL Jerseys 2014 as an owner and executive, but also his status as the most influential owner in professional sports.
