Former NFL DB Tommie Campbell facing dozens of felony drug charges

Former NFL defensive back Tommie Campbell was arrested Tuesday in Pennsylvania and charged with dozens of drug-related felony counts.

According to WPXI in Pittsburgh, police in Aliquippa, Pa., said they believe Campbell who now plays for the Canadian Football League’s Calgary Stampeders was selling drugs out of his mother’s house during the offseason.

Police obtained a search warrant for the house, the Beaver County Times reported, but as they arrived at the residence Monday night, Campbell attempted to flee by jumping over a fence in the backyard while carrying a backpack.

He apparently dropped the backpack, and police said it contained individually wrapped bags of crack cocaine and bundles of cash. A search of the home revealed more cocaine, in addition to scales and other drug paraphernalia, police said.
